What’s coming to yoga class in 2025

As I delve deeper into my own healing I feel the call to deepen my yoga practice, teachings, as well as connecting to the earth and moon cycles.. Last year I loosely followed the moon cycles and talked about them within class but as I sat pondering last night, realised I did not do any of the accompanying work. I always had the excuse that I did not have enough time…or that I just didn’t need to do it. I mean who has time for journaling…is what I told myself. Journalling offers a deeper, clearer insight into ourselves, we start to see the world differently, we become grateful for the small things in our life…which are paradoxically the things that matter. I wonder…as I understand myself more, would this practice give me more insight and clarity thus deepening the meaning to my teachings from an experiential, embodied point of view. At the very least, it will stop me from losing sight of who I am. I’m not saying I didn’t do this last year, I had plenty of wisdom to share from…just not from journalling.
As a girl growing up I used to keep a journal (though I just called it a diary)…a new one every year. Sometimes I wrote daily, sometimes not. The pages filled with antics of a teenager…some light reading, some not so. Some very funny stories….and slightly embarrassing ones! I mean it’s (not) very enlightening reading who snogged who the at The Scout Hut disco but it’s seems these writings helped me stay connected to myself and offered a time of relfection. My journalling days fazed out as I got older until I completely lost the practice…though I would not have considered it a practice back then, it was just something I did. This year, reconnecting with my inner child, I firmly believe this is something I should be doing. It means I will need to take a pause, to reflect and breathe which is exactly what’s needed.
I recently spent the evening with a dear friend and after a period of contemplation and meditation she offered us space to consider 3 words to take into 2025. Mine are:
Nuture
Nourish
Unconditional Self Love
When I hold these words I feel a sense of ease… this is what I need this year.
What is it you need? I encourage you to consider this and write down your own three words to carry you through 2025.
Mine are written on a rock and will live on my altar, a sacred space where I can look at them often.

In 2024 we started to explore mudras and mantras (many of which I sang…you lucky lot haha) along side asana (physical practice) which will continue this year with the inclusion of more yoga philosophy any maybe a little drumming. We will explore the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali - the eight limbs of yoga - each of which offers guidance on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life and how to incorporate them into your practice.
Along side and in addition to traditional yoga, I will be closely following the lunar cycle honouring the new and full moons, which gives 24 opportunities to set new intentions, pause and release. Throughout the year, depending on what day they fall, there will be offerings of free meditations, free guidance, Yoga Nidra, ceremony circles either online or in person, some dates collide with Wednesdays so will become a part of evening class…a little longer and at a slightly extra cost unless you buy a package, then it remains the same. One or two may coincide with GNI ( girls night in) and will become part of that event. And guess what… there will definitely be some journaling. Dates and events too follow.
