This moon cycle is associated with a deep sense of yearning coupled with inner strength. It’s a gentle wake up call for the soul as we enter the new year. 2025, the year of the wood snake in the Chinese zodiac which is associated with one of the 5 elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Predicted to be a good year for career opportunities and personal growth, the wood snake suggests a period of expansion, creativity and mindful advancement. I’m certainly feeling this…the latter that is.

As I delve deeper into my own healing I feel the call to deepen my yoga practice, teachings, as well as connecting to the earth and moon cycles.. Last year I loosely followed the moon cycles and talked about them within class but as I sat pondering last night, realised I did not do any of the accompanying work. I always had the excuse that I did not have enough time…or that I just didn’t need to do it. I mean who has time for journaling…is what I told myself. Journalling offers a deeper, clearer insight into ourselves, we start to see the world differently, we become grateful for the small things in our life…which are paradoxically the things that matter.

Today I took a walk with my lovely daughter and already, one year old Frankie. It was a beautiful day so we wrapped up and headed to the beach. As I stood there wondering what that pile of white stones were and having no idea I felt I was glimpsing into 2025. What I thought I knew and what my intentions were are on hold and I’ve had an almighty nudge from the universe to slow down, to be more present with myself, to connect with myself more and show myself unconditional love. In short I have to re-parent myself. A concept unfamiliar to me….
